An Adventure with Hidden Figures

An Adventure with Hidden Figures

Alas, fast forward to Spring of 2016 and there we were, working out prop rental deals with set decorators preparing one of the most amazing, feel good, empowering films we have ever seen.

There is no better day to post this other than International Women's Day! So here it is folks:

If you had told me a few years ago that A- I would have a physical brick and mortar store and B- Said store would lead me to a contract with 20th Century Fox for movie prop rentals for the highest grossing Oscar nominated film of the year, well, I would have laughed at you (or fainted). Alas, fast forward to Spring of 2016 and there we were, working out prop rental deals with set decorators preparing one of the most amazing, feel good, empowering films we have ever seen.

We took a trip to the theater recently to view Hidden Figures. And guess what? WE SAW OUR JDJ GEAR! All throughout the film to be exact. Aside from the fact that this film takes a raw, hard, look at civil rights in the 1960's it also dives into the wonderful world of space exploration and the strong influence that these women had on those crucial early years of NASA's space programs.

Many people don't know that we offer prop rentals, but in fact it is one of the most interesting aspects of our business! With tons of fixtures from a span of 100+ years in eras to choose from, we can accommodate a variety of wish lists and story boards for film and theatrical projects. In addition to the props we also offer hundreds of vintage and vintage inspired clothing and accessory items for these same types of projects.

Stefanie is the owner of Junk Drunk Jones, an expert picker, and lover of all things cool and vintage.

Believe it or not, Stefanie started “picking” per se, at age 7. Her parents began dragging her around the country looking for antiques at a very early age. In her words, "Long enough to know just a little about everything and a lot about nothing".

Stefanie still has some of her very first purchases as a kid on the road. A collection of Peanuts books and a Peanuts tin lunch box that still have a place in her home’s decor and probably always will.
